Opportunities to Serve

Our ministries exist to help people grow in faith, care for one another, and share Christ's love in our community. Each one plays a unique role in serving both our church family and those beyond our walls. Explore the opportunities below to learn more about these ministries, the impact they make, and how you can use your gifts to serve.

St. Peter’s Cares: Meal Ministry

St. Peter’s Cares is a ministry by parishioners for parishioners.

Some of the best cooks at St. Peter’s prepare and deliver meals for those in need because of illness or family situations, such as the birth of a child or the death of a loved one.  Any special dietary needs are easily accommodated.

If you would like to serve on a St. Peter’s Cares ministry team, please contact Nancy Grimes at

Serving on Sunday

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild prepares the church and chapel for weekly worship and special services, and cares for the linens and vessels used at our altar.  Each new member of Altar Guild receives training and is initially paired with an experienced member.  Primarily, Altar Guild members prepare the church on Friday and Sunday for Sunday morning worship.

To get involved, contact DeWayne Trainer at  .

Lectors / Eucharistic Ministers

Lectors read scripture lessons and lead the congregation in reciting the Nicene Creed and offering the Prayers of the People.  Many Lectors also serve as Eucharistic Ministers, who administer the chalices of wine during Holy Communion.

Ushers

Ushers offer a warm greeting to our worshipers, answer questions, assist people to their seats, assist with the offering and Holy Communion, and are available during worship to address emergent needs.

Youth

Acolytes & Acolyte Masters

Our Acolyte Ministry gives high school youth the opportunity to serve as worship leaders in the 10:30 a.m. service and in special services during the year. Each Sunday a team of six acolytes leads the choir, lectors, and clergy in procession and assists the clergy at the altar. Acolytes serve from September through May, with each team serving approximately ten times a year.  New acolytes begin serving in September.  Acolyte Masters are adults who shepherd and serve with the acolyte teams and/or serve at funerals and memorial services.
